You are not alone
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, depressive disorders are “among the most common and severely underestimated diseases. Around 350 million people worldwide are now suffering from depression”. By 2020, depression or mood disorders will be the second most common disease worldwide, according to the World Health Organization.
What is depression?
Depression is a mental illness that can manifest itself in numerous complaints. Persistent depressed mood, inhibition of drive and thought, loss of interest, and multiple physical symptoms ranging from insomnia to appetite disorders to pain are all possible signs of depression. Sooner or later, the majority of depressed people have suicidal thoughts, and 10 to 15% of those patients with recurrent major depressive episodes end up committing suicide.
Depressive episodes can occur at any age, most commonly between the years 30 and 40. According to recent studies, however, many patients fall ill for the first time before the age of 30. The likelihood of developing depression during life is between 7 and 18%. Women are about twice as likely as men.
Stress – whether consciously or unconsciously present in the affected person either as an external event or negative thinking – is regarded as a decisive factor in the development of depression and the burnout syndrome. An increase in stress resistance, therefore, has a direct preventive effect.
Biodynamic hypnotherapy can provide necessary and sustained support to people affected by burnout syndrome, stress and adjustment disorders, or mild to moderate depressive episodes.
